William Wegman is beloved by the public for his signature weimaraner photographs. He is also an immensely important figure in the contemporary art world as a pioneer video artist, conceptualist, photographer, painter and writer.
(But because space is limited and his weimaraner photographs will absolutely make you smile, that’s all I’m including here.)
Dusted, 1982
Lolita, 1990
Rescue, 1993
Bikini, 1999
Arcimboldo, 1994
Back, Front, Top, 1989
Collection of Philadelphia Museum of Art
Connector, 1994
Dressed for Ball, 1988
Collection of Victoria & Albert Museum, London
Evil Stepmother, 1991
Mammal, 2001
And, on a personal note . . . I can’t remember if I fell in love with William Wegman’s work because I had a weimaraner, or if I got a weimaraner because of William Wegman’s work.
